About me

Hello; My name is Jessica and I love working with children! I've found a real joy in taking care of kids and making sure parents get some time to themselves. I just moved back to New York after completing a Master's Degree in California, and immediately started tutoring for a family that I used to babysit when I lived in the city a couple years ago! It has been really incredible to reconnect with children that I have taken care of, and continue to watch them grow. I have worked as a babysitter and tutor for many families while living in both New York City and San Diego, many of whom I still stay in contact with today. I am comfortable with all ages and have had successful connections with twins, toddlers and even teenagers!

I like to engage in fun activities with children rather than sit in front of a television and I love helping with homework. I am a tutor for all subjects and currently work with a student in an online AP/IB program. I am an avid reader, so I love to watch kids get inspired by reading and imagination. I am also a performer, so I love bringing the arts alive for children and getting them involved in creativity. I am an introverted-extrovert myself and find that I love to balance huge bursts of activity with some quiet, down time of learning. That doesn't mean that I am meek, though! I grew up with a family who were all involved in sports and I like to think I have some skills and toughness.

My schedule always has some flexibility and my main goal is to help a family's needs. There were many families in my town that took care of me as a child; I feel like this is my way to honor them and give back to other families that just need some time off, a date night, or a little bit of help now and again!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

teaching or performing. I hold a Masters in Fine Arts in Musical Theatre and hope to put it to use by getting into a university classroom and inspiring the next generation of performers. Of course, this is if Broadway doesn't come calling first!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to teach kids that reading is incredibly fun! I get very excited by "field trips" to the local library and letting the children pick out their favorite books. I also like to teach VERY basic kitchen skills. While I am no chef, I do like making fun snacks and unexpected treats.
