About me

Greetings! My name is Katia. I am a child caretaker at heart. That means that caring for children comes naturally for me. I became a babysitter at age 10 to three 5 year old girls whose parents entrusted them in my care after school. As a fifth grader, I was responsible for myself and three kindergarten children at school dismissal to walk home for 15 minutes, feed them lunch, and ensure their homework was completed for about four hours daily, M-F. What made this possible was that I had the privilege of learning from my grandmother as she cared for her clients. I therefore acquired a solid sense of effective child care taking, which complimented my innate ability to care for children. I was able to work as a child, while being supervised by a "Nanny Guru", my Granny.

If anyone were to ask those families today why they allowed a ten year old to watch their child, I am confident that they would say that my gentle ways, responsible manner, and genuine love from their children to me made me a definite choice. I am still in the lives of those children today and still remain a comforting shoulder for them in their adult lives, even as mothers.

What makes me a unique choice amongst others is that I am well educated, always well prepared for the child that I am working with, and am always willing to learn something new. I thoroughly enjoy serving in the lives of children. Caring for children is a process that is very fulfilling when all parties work together. The child is my #1 priority and I work diligently to ensure that all of their needs are met while in my care.

I have been a teacher for 7 years, and am currently teaching pre-k. I have the wonderful opportunity to work with an array of children daily and the best part is that I learn from them too!
