About me

Hello my name is Elizabeth Harris. I was born and raised in Massachusetts, but am so excited to be living and thriving in the big apple.

I am thrilled to be involved with SmartSitting because I love working with children. Children are amazing because of their purity and how unfiltered they are about the world around them. They are curious about everything and that is something i strive to learn from them. I have worked with kids from infancy to the teenage years and have loved every age. I went to school for Theatre so i am definitely a strong advocate for learning through play and the belief that music is extremely important to all kinds of development.

I am currently trying to be an actress in New York, but the more and more i work with kids, I am realizing that I want to go back to school to get my certification in early childhood development. I love to watch children find enjoyment in something they were not interested in at first, or succeeding at something they were previously having difficulty with, and in this, i believe there is so much we can learn from them. I also believe it is extremely important to take the children's emotions seriously, even if they are crying over something silly. Like people at every age, children want to be taken seriously and want you to understand why they are feeling the way that they are. This also builds trust between you and the child and from that trust comes reliance and love.
